Thomas Y. Clark

March 22, 1918 — November 11, 2014

Thomas Y. Clark (T.Y. or Buddy), 96, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2014.

He was born March 22, 1918, in Louisville, KY, the son of E. H. and Maggie (Perry) Clark. He was married on February 6, 1943, to Evelyn B. (Fox) Clark. In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by Evelyn, his beloved wife of 69 years, and a brother, Edward.

Thomas, a World War II veteran, worked for two years as a meter reader for Louisville Gas and Electric, and several more years as an accountant at Tube Turns. He then became a minister, serving for more than 50 years. During his ministry, with his wife Evelyn at his side, he served in various Churches of Christ in the Louisville area, including Rowan St., Kentucky Ave., Iroquois, and Buechel, where he was a member until his death.

After officially retiring as a church minister, he continued his passion for the Lord's work by overseeing a mission effort that includes over 75 native preachers in the Philippines. He continued that work until his death.

He was a devoted Christian father of four children, Thomas Clark (Alice), Sharon Lawyer (Lawrence), Patricia Anne Long, and Stephen Clark (Katrina). He was blessed with 11 grandchildren, Christopher, Kimberly, Emily, Jennifer, Adam, Austin, Jonathan, Brandon, Stephanie, Kayla and Kyle; and 9 great-grandchildren, Rylen, Jace, Kendall, Brooklynn, Kenric, Micah, Adia, Abel, and Peyton.

The celebration of his life of service will begin on Sunday, November 16th, with visitation from 1-6 p.m., at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive, in Middletown, Kentucky, a suburb of Louisville. Additional viewing will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, November 17, 2014, at Newcomer (the family will be available at 12 p.m.), and the funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Entombment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, on Preston Highway, immediately following the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, you may donate to the Philippine Mission Fund through the Buechel Church of Christ. As a convenience, envelopes and a contribution box will be located by the guest register book.
