Thomas E. Gribbins

Thomas “Tom” Gribbins, 75, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on February 2, 2025. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Renee; his parents, Ernest and Lorene; his grandchild, Travis; and his siblings, Roy, Billie, Barbara, and Mary. Tom was a proud father to 

Michael (Jamie), Brian, Tanya (James), and Daniyel (Teresa). He was a devoted grandfather to Alyssa, Tara, Dalton J., Everitt, Willow, and Jared, and a great-grandfather to Jace.

Tom was a proud American and worked for over 30 years as a pipe fitter and gas main engineer for the Louisville Gas and Electric Company, earning the respect of all who knew him for his dedication and hard work.

Tom was an avid fisherman and a passionate supporter of Kentucky basketball, never missing a Wildcats game, especially when listening to Cawood Ledford call the action on the radio. He was also a gifted carpenter, having built most of the house he lived in his entire life.

A talented guitarist, Tom often played his Gibson guitars, filling the neighborhood with music. He generously shared his gift by teaching others and welcomed multiple generations of kids who turned his garage into a practice space, where Tom was always their biggest fan.

In his younger years, Tom and his brother Billie operated a bar and pinball alley before departing for Army service. Despite life’s challenges, Tom maintained his signature wink, smile, and warm demeanor. He never met a stranger and had a unique gift for making everyone feel welcome.

Tom's legacy of kindness, music, and service to others will continue to live on through the countless lives he touched.

A celebration of Tom’s life will be held on Saturday February 8th from 2 pm to 4 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY.

Rest in peace, Tom. Your service, music, and unwavering kindness will never be forgotten.
