Thomas "Jay" Curry, 86 Years, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on August 2, 2024. Jay was born on May 31, 1938, in Kansas City, Missouri to the late Thomas and Finis (Smith) Black-Curry. After graduating from Central High School, he promptly joined the United States Coast Guard and proudly served on the East Wind icebreaker, patrolling the coasts of the Arctic ocean. Shortly after his release from the military, he moved to Southern California where he began working in the insurance field encouraged and mentored by his Uncle Jack. That is where he met and married his wife, Penny of 52 years. After moving to Kentucky with his wife and sons in 1976, he continued pursuing his career in insurance until his retirement in 2000. He was an avid golfer, spending many memorable days on the greens with his golf buddies. He enjoyed cooking, listening to his favorite jazz musicians, woodworking and building model train towns. He enjoyed watching westerns and war movies and traveling the country with his devoted wife, Penny and their family and longtime friends. He was a faithful member and volunteer of Southeast Christian Church for 38 years. Jay was loved by all for his corny sense of humor, generosity and kind nature.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Sean Patrick Curry.
Jay is survived by his wife Penny (Palmer) Curry; Son, Garrett Curry and wife Kristen; Granddaughter, Mckenna Curry, Grandson, Brennan Curry.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 7th, From 12pm-2:00pm, at Chapel in The Woods, 1407 Moser Rd., Louisville KY, 40299, a service will follow at 2:00pm. Burial will take place, Wednesday, August 8th, 3:00pm, at Resthaven Cemetery,4400 Bardstown Rd, Louisville KY, 40218.
In lieu of flowers, The family requests that donations be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
