Theresa LaVerne (Payton) Potter, 83, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2017.
LaVerne "Granny" Potter was an outgoing, generous, amazing person. She retired from Presco Tech after almost 40 years. LaVerne was so much more than a Mom and Grandmother, she was a best friend, a confidant, and someone who was always there with open arms. Besides spending most of her time with her family, she enjoyed so many activities including gardening, taking care of dogs, meeting with her Elvis Club, and casting a fishing pole and waiting for that bobber to move. No matter what was going on in someone's life, she would always make you feel special and loved. All who knew her will miss her, but she will be in our hearts forever.
She was born on May 15, 1933, in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, to the late Garland and Mary (Pfister) Payton. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph and Donnie Payton; and great-great granddaughter, Lanee.
Theresa is survived by her children, Michael Howell (Michele Heuglin), Debby Bale (Michael), LaDonna Appell, Johnrussell Van Wie (Shelley), Greg Potter (Melissa), and Doug Potter (Donette); brother, Robert Payton (Doris); sisters, Deloris Morton and Charlene Goodlett (Charles); grandchildren, Jenifer Howell, Angela Cecil (Brian), Shawne Portman (Julia Sun), Monica Daugherty, Cammie Ebright (Scott), Charlie Howell (Veronica), Ryan Potter, Brandon Van Wie, Zachary Van Wie, Christopher Potter, DJ Potter, and Jennifer Cox; great grandchildren, Lauryn, Bryttanie, Michael, Cameron, Angel, Joshua, Kevin, James, August, Oliva, Peyton, Jocelyn, Ethan, Hailey, Harper, Houston, Emmelin, and Amanda; and great-great grandchildren, Joshua Todd, Marleigh, Taiden, Alexander, and Anderson.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2017, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Unity of Louisville (757 South Brook Street, Louisville, Kentucky 40203) or Animal Protection Association (146 Spring Street, Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130).
