Thelma Jean Smithson died peacefully on August 14, 2022 after a two-year struggle from a paralyzing stroke.
Thelma was born in Canmer, Kentucky on October 9, 1939 to Austin and Hattie Smithson. She is survived by two Nephews, Ronald Coleman (Gloria) and Martin Andrew (Anne). She is predeceased by her parents and brother, Coleman Pierce Smithson.
Thelma retired as a reservationist from Delta Airlines. During her tenor she enjoyed traveling here and abroad. She had secondary employment for many years with Travel & Transport providing travel arrangements for Kimberly-Clark and later worked part time for Talbots call center.
Thelma called Knoxville her forever home and enjoyed the company of many friends and neighbors.
Thelma was an avid University of Tennessee fan, especially, the girls' basketball team. She was a member of the Miata club and enjoyed the thrill of their Rally's.
After her debilitating stroke she relocated to Louisville, Kentucky to be cared for by her family.
At her request she is to be cremated without a service.
