Theirlene Burks

Theirlene "Terry" Burks, 75, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023. Terry was a loving and devoted mother, sister, and Nanna. She never met a stranger and engaged with everyone she met. Terry had a kind soul and was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever it was needed. Terry enjoyed watching the Olympics, especially ice skating, as well as the Kentucky Derby and was always known to bet on a gray horse. She retired from Kroger as a manager after several years of service. Most importantly, Terry enjoyed spending time with her family and making memories with her grandchildren. Terry will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.

She was born on June 19, 1948 in Louisville, Kentucky to Woodie and Elsie (Wilson) Davis. She is preceded in death by her mother, Elsie Irene Davis; father, Woodie Davis; brother, Bruce Davis; and granddaughter, Leslee Ray Banks.

Terry is survived by her loving family, daughter, Cynthia (Charles Meadows) Clark; son, Robert (Dawn Lewis) Banks; granddaughter, Stephanie (James Smith, Jr.) Banks; grandson, Michael (Nicole Glenn) Banks; great-grandchildren, Katelyn Banks, Hailey Clary, Mitchell Clary, Karsyn Craig, Skyler Banks, Kashlyn Corbitt; brother, Woodie (Brenda) Davis, brother, Hilton (Jane) Davis; as well as a host of extended family and friends to cherish her loving memory forever.

Visitation will be on Friday, December 8, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway. A celebration of her life will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel.

Terry will be laid to rest privately at a later date at Zachary Taylor National Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
