Terry O'Neal Lawrence, Sr.

Terry O'Neal Lawrence, Sr., 82, of Clarksville, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2022. He retired as a civil servant, working at the Disney and Copple Club Recreation Centers and New Gardens Tower at Fort Knox. Terry had a lifelong love of agriculture and gardening. He was an award-winning farmer as a teenager. He enjoyed growing roses and, especially, tomatoes, where at one time he raised over 200 varieties. Terry was an avid fisherman and fished many lakes and rivers in Canada and the southeast United States.

He was born on February 21,1940, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Nay and Rosa (Hardin) Lawrence. In addition to his parents, Terry was preceded in death by his children, Susan Michelle and Sean Patrick Lawrence; and brothers, Thurman, Theron, Truman, and Tony Lawrence.

Terry is survived by two children, Yvonne Gonzalez (Ricky) and Terry (Neal) Lawrence, Jr. (Dawn); grandchildren, Adrian Lawrence (Nicole), Brandi James, and Zachariah Gonzalez; great-grandchildren, Melanie, Kaiden, and Dexter Lawrence; 24 nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and -nephews.

Terry's wish was to be cremated. Visitation is 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 21, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with his memorial service taking place at 7:00 p.m.

Terry was extremely fond of his dogs and considered them his best friends. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Clark County Humane Society (2702 Middle Road, Jeffersonville, IN 47130, www.hacconline.org).
