Terry Edward "T", "Coach" Lally, age 83 of Louisville, passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2022. He was a member of Good Shepherd Parish (Formerly known as Our Lady's) Louisville, Kentucky- 5th Generation. Terry was a member of the PGA of America and the PGA Half Century Club. He was formerly head professional at Owensboro Country Club and Audubon Country Club in Louisville, Kentucky. His last head position was golf director at Bellarmine University for 23 years. Upon retirement he spent 20 years at the Midland Trail Golf Course. He was part of the staff working with friend, Patrick Barry. His amateur career included qualifying for four (4) USGA amateur events and a three (3) year member of St. Xavier High School golf team, being captain of the Tigers in 1955. He was a 3 year member of the University of Notre Dame golf team after joining the team as a walk-on. He was voted captain of the Irish golf team in 1960. At Notre Dame, he qualified for 2 NCAA National Championships. As a professional, he qualified for the PGA Championship.
Terry graduated from St. X in 1956. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1960. Terry was preceded in death by his parents- Joseph and Irma Lally; daughters- Karen and Kathleen (twins), and step-son, J.R. Cannon.
Terry is survived by his loving wife, Linda Lally; children- Kelly Molloy (Chris) and Daniel Lally (Susan); step-daughters, Cindy Jessee (Tony) and Connie McDonald (Keith); 12 grandchildren, 5 great-Grandchildren; siblings- Joe Lally, Nancy Stromberg (Bucky), Pat Minton (Dan), and Kathy Sothmann (Mark); and a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation will be 3 to 8pm on Wednesday, August 24th at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243. A funeral mass will be at 10 am on Thursday, August 25th at St Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church, 2141 Lancashire Ave, Louisville, KY 40205, with entombment to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
