Terry Lee Jacobi, passed away in his home at the age of 62 on Sunday, October 27, 2024. Born on December 30, 1961, in New Albany, Indiana, Terry touched the lives of many with his warmth, humor, and unwavering love for his family.
Terry dedicated his life to those he held dear, but above all, he treasured his beloved wife of 28 years, Jami Lynn Jacobi. Together, they built a life filled with love and memories. Terry was a devoted father to two daughters, Paige Dooley and Kayla Cope, and as a proud Papaw, he cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, Ellie Dooley, Quincy Cope, and Vera Cope. His heart overflowed with love for his family, and he was determined to instill his strong family values and passion for the Indiana Hoosiers into each generation, celebrating victories and creating cherished moments along the way. His favorite week of the year was family vacation to the beach, a treasured time when everyone came together under one roof.
Family was everything to Terry; he was a loving brother to ten siblings: Elaine Efkeman, Donna Banet (Larry), Mike Jacobi (Mary), Susan Didat, Bud Jacobi (Patty), Janice Coleman (Darryl), Mark Jacobi (Elaine), Rusty Jacobi (Ellen), Brian Jacobi (Charlotte), and Deena Drexler (Eric), as well as countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. With a spirit that could bring smiles to those around him, he will be deeply missed by all who had the fortune to know him.
Terry's life was marked by service, having proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. Terry was a an employee at Jacobi Seeding and Sodding and a lifelong employee of Jacobi Oil Service, where he worked tirelessly to support his family, driven by his strong work ethic and commitment to those he loved. In addition to his professional endeavors, Terry enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. An avid fisherman, he sought solace in the great outdoors. His lively spirit was matched only by his loyalty to his favorite sports teams, particularly IU basketball, a passion that he shared with family and friends.
Terry is preceded in death by his father, Albert M. Jacobi Jr., and his mother, Regina B. Jacobi, two brothers-in-law, Hank Efkeman and Jim Didat, and his beloved German Shephard, Stacy Renee Jacobi.
Visitation for Terry will be held on November 1, 2024, from 2 PM to 8 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Saturday after 8:30 a.m. His mass will be celebrated on November 2, 2024 at 10 AM, at St. Mary Navilleton Catholic Church (7500 Navilleton Rd, Floyds Knobs), with burial to follow at the church cemetery.
The family requests that contributions in Terry’s memory be made to the American Lung Association.
