Terry L. DeWeese, 74, of Georgetown, Indiana, passed away Friday, May 26, at Jewish Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Paula (Thomas); his son, Evan and Evan's wife, Paula (Chumacero); his sister, Barbara Baker; and also survived by one nephew, David Clemons; three nieces, Lisa Clemons, Kathy Sohaney, and Kelly Kingsley; several great-nephews and -nieces; and great-great-nephews and -nieces. He was preceded in death by his brother, Billy DeWeese; and sister, Judy Berry.
After graduating as the last class of New Albany High School before Floyd Central High School opened, he joined the Navy where he served during the Vietnam War. When he returned home, he co-owned a roofing and construction company. After marrying, he co-owned a wholesale florist company, which was the first to deliver to convenience-type stores and developed into a three-state area. He retired again and worked for courier companies. He enjoyed this job, as he said everyone is happy to receive a paycheck. Terry was a 10-year member of the National Ski Patrol and enjoyed his days at Paoli Peaks.
A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023, from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN 47150).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of American Veterans to DAV – Disabled American Veterans (P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301).
