Terrance "Terry" Dearing, age 61 passed away on April 4, 2014, after a brave battle with cancer. Terry was a 1970 alumnus of Flaget High School where he participated in the Glee Club, cross country, track and tennis. He attended the University of Louisville and graduated Spalding University with a degree in Medical Technology. Early on he worked at Louisville Primary Care Center on Portland Avenue (10 years) and then 24 years at the VA Hospital before retiring.
Terry is survived by his 2 sons, Patrick (Shanna) and Christopher (Angela); grandchildren, Joshua, Caitlyn, Tristan and Carter; his loving partner of 30 years, Chris Heft; parents, John and Alice Dearing; brothers, Jack Dearing (Cathie) and Ted Dearing (Carol); sister, Vickie Volyn (Todd); as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Terry was an animal lover who had 2 adorable pet dogs, Molly and Wilson, who he loved very much. He preceded in death by one of his dogs, Miss Lacy. Terry's memory will be cherished forever.
Mass of celebration will be 10am Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Annunciation Catholic Church, 105 Main St, Shelbyville, KY 40065 with private burial to follow in Hebron Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8pm Monday, April 7, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive, with prayer services there at 7pm Monday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kentuckiana Humane Society or Kosair Charities.
