Tammy Taraline Chism, affectionately known as "Triple T," passed away peacefully at her home on January 10, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family. Born on October 29, 1959, in Louisville, Tammy was a shining light in the lives of all who knew her. She was a graduate of Valley High School and pursued her passion for understanding people by studying Psychology.
Tammy was a devoted mother and grandmother, dedicating her life to nurturing and supporting her family. Her proudest accomplishment, indeed, was raising her children and taking care of her family, a testament to her deep care and commitment. Tammy was a thoughtful and loving presence, always there with comforting words and a warm smile. Her strong Christian faith guided her life, and she delighted in teaching the word of God, especially to her cherished grandbabies.
Her personality was vibrant and genuine. She was innovative and fearless, a true matriarch who didn’t hesitate to express her thoughts. Tammy will be remembered for her warmth and kindness, always ready to lend a hand or a listening ear. She enjoyed a lot of hobbies, including doing puzzles, sewing, playing dice "nothing honey" and cards, going to bingo, fishing, and listening to music. Most of all, any opportunity to spend time with her grandbabies brought her immense joy, whether it was a simple day at the park or a cozy afternoon filled with games.
She leaves behind a loving family, including her sons, Robert Lamont Thompson Sr. (Sara Noland) and William C. Chism III (Terrah Brooks), and her daughter, Shawnna Shirlena Chism. Tammy also cherished her 16+ grandchildren and 5+ great-grandchildren, all of whom were the candles of joy in her life. She also leaves behind her sister, Brenda Thompson and three brothers, Otis, Royce and Steve Thompson.
Tammy was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley Dean Hazelwood; father, Pete Thompson; daughter, Diana Taraline Chism; grandson, Robert Lamont Thompson II; sister, Lola Hazelwood; and brother, David Thompson. Their memories will forever remain a part of her story, as love transcends even the boundaries of life and death.
Tammy's love and spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of her family, whose lives were forever enriched by her presence. A visitation and celebration of life will take place on Monday, January 20, 2025, at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville, giving friends and family an opportunity to honor her legacy. Visitation will be 10:00 am ~ 1:00 pm on Monday with her service beginning at 1:00 pm. She will be laid to rest in Bethany Cemetery.
