Talbert Ray Smith

Talbert Ray (TR) Smith Jr, 82, Fairdale Ky, passed peacefully in his sleep on October 21, 2022.TR was born September 20, 1940 in Perry County Kentucky to the late Talbert Smith and Laura Belle Napier. He served his country as a Communications Officer on the USS Taconic in the United States Navy. He furthered his Naval career at Naval Ordnance, Louisville Kentucky where he received countless awards and accolades for his skills and knowledge in communications and electronics. He retired with 30 years of service at the age of 52. TR's
passion was playing guitar and spending time with friends and family. He was definitely known as the life of the party.

TR was preceded in death by a daughter Teresa Jean Smith, 49, and a son Bryon Keith Smith, 54.

TR is survived by two daughters Yvonne Christine (William) Smith and Angela Marie (Matt) Bockting; grandchildren Christopher and Tara Smith, Destyni Wood, Austin, Madalyn, and William Pedigo, Levi and Lacey Bockting; 5 great grandchildren; sisters Alma Jean Caple, Suzi (Gary) Tackett, Vickie (Joe) Goodwin, and Glenna Ratliff; brother Bobby (Colotte) Smith; nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 9:30 am to 11:30 am on Friday, October 28, 2022 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). His Funeral Service will be at 11:30 am on Friday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel with burial to follow at Mt. Holly Cemetery in Fairdale, Kentucky.
