Susan Marie (Evans) Poe

Susan Marie "Sue" (Evans) Poe, 82, of Elizabeth, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2022. A woman of strong faith, Sue never met a stranger and loved having company and spending time with her family. She was an avid genealogy researcher and liked working crossword puzzles. Sue enjoyed gardening, tending to her house plants, and canning vegetables.

She was born on March 16, 1940, in New Albany, Indiana, to Wayne and Marie (Kaiser) Evans. In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her brothers, Allen and Dennis Evans.

Sue is survived by her husband of 59 years, Edgar Poe; children, Robert Morgan (Robin), Jacqueline Priddy (Barry), Eric Poe (Becky), and Jason Poe (Lou Anne); brother, Wayne Evans; 14 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Thursday after 9:00 a.m. Her funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Elizabeth.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sue's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society (900 E. Main Street, Louisville, KY 40206).
