Susan Gilkey Clark, 70, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2019. She thought of others first, always, which showed through her work at Ben Franklin Crafts in the fabric department helping and teaching customers as friends. Susan loved snow and all things bright and cheery. As a talented crafter and seamstress she often created warm, thoughtful gifts for those she loved. Above all else, Susan lived for her family and cherished quality time with her dear grandchildren who know her as their beloved Nan. She was also a devoted member of Southeast Christian Church's Indiana Campus.
She was born on April 18, 1948, in Maysville, Kentucky, to the late James O. and Martha K. (Cull) Gilkey. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Helen Gilkey; nephew, Sgt. Daniel Faulkner; and niece, Joanna Greer.
Susan is survived by her son, Edward Clark (Tehea); daughter, Connie Hynes (Chris); sister, Joyce Greer (William); brothers, James Gilkey and Greg Gilkey (Pam); grandchildren, Erin Quinlan (Shane), Alexandra Clark, Peyton Aston, Patrick Hynes, Adam Hynes, Nate Hynes, and Mollie Kate Hynes; great-grandchildren, Fitz and Keaton; and her many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 17, 2019, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Susan will be laid to rest with her parents at Calvary Cemetery in Louisville at a later date.
