Steven Dennis Merritt

Steven Dennis Merritt, age 72 of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. Steven was born in Knoxville, TN to the late Dennis and Barbara Merritt.  He served as a member of the United States Navy for 11 years and was currently employed with Raytheon for 43 years.  He was dedicated to his family, his country and his job.  Steven loved gardening, loved to read books and watch Hallmark movies.  

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Katherine.

Steven is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Teresa "Gail" Merritt; children, Jennifer and Lucas (Aaron); grandchildren, Duncan, Gracee, Abbeygail, Noah, Owen and Isabella; siblings, Darrel (Diane), Ronnie and Sheila; nieces and nephews, Jeremy, Gabe, Angie and Jake; and a host of relatives and friends.

A gathering to celebrate Steven's life will be held from 1pm to 4pm on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243.  Military honors will be rendered at 1:30pm at the funeral home.
