Sonia Grace Hurt

Sonia Grace Hurt, 87, passed away on August 13, 2023. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church and was active in United Methodist Women. Sonia was a Cub Scout leader and Girl Scouts Camp Director known as "Sonny". Sonia was active in 4-H, volunteered for several organizations, involved in Eastern Star and was a softball coach for Bethany United Methodist Church. She enjoyed archery, karate, singing Karaoke, crocheting and working puzzles. One of her greatest achievements was becoming a nurse. Sonia enjoyed making people happy.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Jack Hurt, Sr.; granddaughter, Heather G. Hurt; great-grandson, Keiryn V. Reed and brothers, Wallace D. Murphy, Jr. and Carl L. Murphy

Sonia is survived by her children, Jack G. Hurt, Jr., Brenda J. Armstrong, Gregory L. Hurt, Roxanna R. Norris, Rebecca F. Reed and Benjamin J. Hurt; 14 grandchildren and 17 great- grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday, August 18. 2023, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY, from 12pm-3pm with a celebration of Sonia's life beginning at 3pm.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, in Sonia's memory.
