Siegfried Siebert, 83, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023. He was born on September 13, 1939, in Stettin Stolzenhagen, Germany, to Josef and Hildegard (Goldman) Siebert. In 1952, at the age of 12, Siegfried and his family immigrated to the United States. He proudly served in the Navy and retired after a distinguished career that spanned 29 years. Siegfried loved to hunt and fish with his late brother, Gerd. He was a member of Faith Harvest Assembly in Greenville, Indiana.
In addition to his parents, Siegfried was preceded in death by his children, Siegfried Karl Siebert and Kara Brigetta Peterson; and brother, Gerd Edgar Siebert.
Siegfried is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Nell Black (Dan); grandsons, Bobby Black, Andy Black (Merita), Joseph Peterson, and Jon Peterson; siblings, Lienhard Siebert (Robbyn), Renate Burrell, Liane Jaksch (Helmut), and Ruth McNamara (Sean); and several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Siegfried's wish was to be cremated, and a visitation of family and friends will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with a memorial service taking place at 1:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest privately with military honors at New Albany National Cemetery.
