Sibyl Sue Slayton

Sibyl Sue Slayton, 75, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2022. Sibyl was a loving spouse, mom, sister, aunt, and friend. She retired from her nursing career in 1989 and she loved working with the special needs children. Her favorite hobbies were genealogy and collecting porcelain angels. Sibyl will truly be missed by anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

She was born on September 20, 1946 in Magnolia, Kentucky to Ebbie and Stella (Wilson) Slayton. She is preceded in death by her Father, Ebbie Lee Slayton, Mother, Stella Belle Slayton, Daughter, Tammy Michelle Maxson, Siblings, Delores Scofield and Naomi Hoskins.

Sibyl is survived by her loving family, Spouse, James William Maxson; Son, James Kevin Maxson, Grandson, James Daniel (Jordan) Maxson, 3 Granddaughters, Laquana H., Jasmine H., & Alexandria H.; 15 Great-Grandchildren, Genie, Kalia, Jaden, Sameerah, Timothy, Bryson, Levi, Karmen, Khamari, Ivy, Tevin, Xander, Ace, and Elliott Maxson; Sister, Brenda Hanning; Nephews, Danny Bruner, Norman Scofield, William Scofield Jr., Foster Scofield, Leland Ables, and Billy Hayes; Nieces, Penny Bruner and Dionna Bruner, as well as a host of family and friends to cherish her loving memory forever.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). Her Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel with burial to follow at Bethany Memorial Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
