Shirley Mae Upchurch

Shirley Mae Upchurch, 86, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2022. Shirley was a retiree of the United States Postal Service, where she worked for many years. She was a faithful member of Parkway Southern Baptist Church. Shirley was an avid bowler who loved cooking, painting, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was born in September of 1935 in Paducah, Kentucky, to the late Earl and Gladys (Myers) Schmidt. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, James David Upchurch; 2 sisters; and 3 brothers.

Shirley is survived by her children, David Upchurch, Susan Logsdon (Tim), Sherry Seewer, and Chris Upchurch (Joy); grandchildren, David James Upchurch (Toni), John Upchurch, Abigail Upchurch, Jeslyn Monroe (Adam), Derrick Logsdon, Matthew Logsdon (Sherry), Aimee Harmon, Sarah Clay (Russell), Schnaider Upchurch, Natalie Upchurch, Rijkard Upchurch, and Gabriel Upchurch; great-grandchildren, Devon Bedenbaugh, Judah Upchurch, Clayton Monroe, Michaela Herr (Matt), Matthew Perez, Austin Kaiser, Andrew Logsdon, Gannon Small, and Rhiannon Tackett.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 16, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 17, at Parkway Southern Baptist Church (2508 Corydon Pike, New Albany) with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana. Additional Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to the time of service on Tuesday at the church.
