Shirley Ann Stewart, a beloved member of her family and community, passed away on October 20, 2024 in Prospect, Kentucky. She was born on December 1, 1934, in Vine Grove, Kentucky, Shirley was the cherished daughter of the late Edgar and Pearl (Drees) Myers. Throughout her life, she exemplified love and dedication, fostering deep connections with those around her.

Shirley's career as a bookkeeper at Britthaven Nursing Home showcased her commitment to her profession, and her strong work ethic was evident in all her endeavors. She attended Ahrens Trade School, equipping herself with skills that allowed her to contribute meaningfully to her workplace and family.

A spirited individual, Shirley was known for her spunky and mischievous personality. She held a deep love for her family, especially reveling in the joy brought by babies. Many fond memories were created during family vacations to Panama City and Daytona Beach, Florida, times that her loved ones will forever hold dear. Shirley enjoyed playing cards with friends and attending neighborhood parties, where her vivacious nature brought warmth and laughter to every gathering and Sunday dinners with her family. 

Above all, Shirley's proudest accomplishments were her family. She leaves behind her loving daughter, Jeanine Kilburn; son, David Alan Adkins; grandchildren, Ashley Keller (Rob), Matthew Kilburn, Trey Adkins (Brionna), and Andrew Adkins; as well as great-grandchildren, Oaklyn, Everleigh, Samuel, and Maeson. Their lives are enriched by the love and guidance she bestowed upon them.

Shirley is preceded in death by her son, Roy Gene Adkins, as well as her husbands, Royce Adkins and Everett Stewart. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Charles Myers, and sister, Nancy Tingle.

A visitation in her honor will be held on Sunday, October 27, 2024, from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 4:00 PM, both taking place at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville, located at 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY, 40243.

Shirley Ann Stewart will be remembered for her vivacity, her love of family, and the indelible mark she left on the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her. Her spirit will continue to live on through her cherished family and the warm memories they share.

The family requests that contributions in Shirley’s memory be made to Kentucky Humane Society.
