Shirley A. Getzel, 86, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2023.
She was born on July 27, 1937 in Larue County, Kentucky. She is preceded in death by her mother, Mildred Tracy and her father, William Sutherland , Sr.. Shirley is survived by her loving family, brother, William (Lillian) Sutherland , Jr., niece, Dee (Shawn) Kinser, great nieces, Allie and Olivia Kinser, and her friend, Lou Kinser.
Shirley retired from the Medical Records Department for the University of Louisville Hospital. She loved animals; especially watching the hummingbirds and feeding the birds. Most recently, she really enjoyed her QVC shopping.
A memorial gathering will be from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday, January 13th at Newcomer Funeral Home (10304 Dixie Hwy). A memorial service celebrating Shirley's life will be at 12:00 pm on Saturday, at the funeral home. Shirley will be laid to rest privately at Resthaven Memorial Park.
The family requests that contributions in Shirley's memory be made to the Kentucky School of the Blind.
