Shirley Jean (Cook) Baker, 81, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2022.
She was born on September 1, 1940, in Annetta, Kentucky, to Wilber and Mabel (Decker) Cook. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Baker, Sr.; siblings, Marvin Cook and Carolyn Drake; brother-in-law, Joe Brewer; and granddaughter, Brandy Romero.
Shirley is survived by her children, Timothy Baker (Tricia), Mark Baker (Margaret), Rick Baker (Karrinne), and Mariah George (Jason); siblings, Chet Cook (Jean), James Cook, Janice Brewer, and Darrell Cook (Brenda); grandchildren, Payton Davidson (Eric), Paige Elmore (Ryan), Kendell Baker, Shauna Baker, Kari Baker, Bethaney Baker, Hunter Baker, Skyler Baker, Laree Burns (Candice), Kaelyn Heath (Damian), Raylie King, and Dakota George; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Shirley's wish was to be cremated, and she will be laid to rest privately with her husband at Walter Cook Cemetery in Grayson County, Kentucky. Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) was entrusted with her care. Contributions in Shirley's memory may be made to Rauch Industries (845 Park Place, New Albany, IN 47150).
