Sherwood Dayton Mccormick, Jr.

Sherwood "Woody" Dayton McCormick, Jr., 75, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024. Woody was a loving and devoted husband, father, and Pap. He was an avid reader and a history buff. Woody never met a stranger and always found a connection with everyone he met. He was a lifelong train enthusiast and worked for the railroad for several years until he retired. Woody will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.

He was born on May 5, 1948 in Fort Lee, Virginia to Sherwood and Isabelle McCormick. He is preceded in death by his father, Sherwood McCormick, Sr.; and mother, Isabelle McCormick.

Woody is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Susan McCormick; sons, Michael McCormick, Christopher (Heather) McCormick; grandchildren, Emily McCormick, Dayton (Kristen) McCormick; Great-grandsons, Owen McCormick, Xander McCormick; one brother; two sisters; as well as a host of extended family and friends to cherish his loving memory forever.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway.

The family requests that contributions in Sherwood's memory be made to the Kentucky Humane Society or the American Heart Association.
