Sherion N.(Welch) Barrett

Sherion N. (Welch) Barrett, 68, of Jeffersonville passed away on June 19, 2011. A servant to God, Sherion loved to help others and lived by Psalm 91. A nurse at Clark Memorial geriatric unit, she was also a member of the Ninth Street Christian Church in Louisville. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and cross-stitching appliqués.

Sherion was born on July 9, 1942 in Jeffersonville, Indiana to the late James N. and Georgie (Miller) Welch. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Marion N. Barrett.

She is survived by her children, Sherry Luster (Stanley "Rico"), Carol Welch, James "Jamie" White (Tonya), and Mary Matthews (Derrick), all of Jeffersonville; sister, Leona Martin and brother, Paul V. Welch (Coreen), all of Louisville, Kentucky; grandchildren, Shantel Dow, Shannel White, Brittany White, Desiree Evans, Sebastian Matthews, and James White, Jr.; one great grandchild, Rylee White; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Service will be at 11 AM on Friday in the Paul F. Kraft, Sr. Memorial Chapel at the funeral home.
