Shelby Townes

Shelby Jean Townes, 49, of Louisville, passed away November 5, 2013 in her fiancé Richard Roberts' arms. She was born August 7, 1964 to Joseph and Annie Townes in Rocky Mount, VA. Shelby enjoyed life to the fullest, spending time with family and friends. She loved watching Law & Order and any criminal show. Shelby was an avid Cardinal fan, especially men's basketball. She will be dearly missed by her "Nanny Boo Who", her granddaughter who was her pride and joy.

She is preceded in death by her brother Joseph Townes, Jr, stepfather Andrew Green, niece Felicia McLean, and two grandmothers.

Shelby is survived by her parents; her daughters: Tamika and Montia Townes and their father Robert Strong; granddaughter Mic'Quoya Johnson, Sisters: Shirley (Lord), Joyce (Andrew), Sandra (Jimmy), and Paula; Brothers: James, William, Randy, Troy, and Rodney; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Celebration of Shelby's Life will be held Friday, November 15, 2013 at 3:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home – Southwest Chapel (10304 Dixie Hwy). Visitation will be held from 1:00pm until time of service.
