Sheila Rae (Bowman) LaRochelle, 74, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away on Monday, August 7, 2023. She retired from Jeffersonville High School after over 20 years of employment. Sheila enjoyed shopping, gardening and decorating, which earned her the title of "Christmas Queen." More than anything, Sheila loved being with her family and was a proud grandmother.
She was born on January 26, 1949 in New Albany to Kenneth and Helen Bowman. In addition to her parents, Sheila was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Jim LaRochelle; and brother, Ron Bowman.
Sheila is survived by her daughters, Dawn Klontz, Stefanie D'Alfonso (Robert II); grandchildren, Ashly Klontz, Robert D'Alfonso III, twins, Brittany and Cortney Klontz, Tyler D'Alfonso, Ava D'Alfonso, Chloe D'Alfonso; great-grandchildren, Emma D'Alfonso, Stella Timberlake, Paisleigh Knapp and Tyler D'Alfonso, Jr. on the way; and her beloved dog, Lucy.
Sheila's wish was to be cremated and Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) was entrusted with her care. The family encourages you to plant a tree or shrub in your yard in honor of Sheila.
