Shawn David "Dinosaur" Denham of Louisville, Ky., passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 2, 2023. He was only 21 years old. The family is both devastated and shocked by his death. Shawn was born June 24th, 2001, in Louisville, Ky. to Michael Denham and Michelle (Denham) Giles.
Shawn graduated from Valley High School in 2019 and over the course of his life worked in various areas of home renovations, painting, auto detailing, lawn service and farm hand. Ever since he was a little boy he loved to work with his hands. From painting to repairing his dirt bike, he loved to see what he could physically do with his own labor of love.
Shawn was an avid fisherman that loved to spend hours by the water with a pole in his hand. He also loved to ride his dirt bike and was exceptional with it.
Shawn's antics were legendary and those who knew him have their own stories to tell. He said what he meant and meant what he said.
Most everyone saw Shawn's funny, humorous and goofball side. He could make anyone laugh no matter how hard they tried not to. He could lift any spirit. Although known for his quick-witted humor there was another side to him. Shawn's compassionate side had a way of making every person and animal feel safe in his presence. Those that knew Shawn would say he was that "good ol boy", the one that would give the shirt off his back to someone in need.
Shawn's infamous long curly hair "man bun" would often be seen, but at times he would have it long and flowing saying "The curls get the girls".
In addition to his parents, Michael Denham and Michelle Giles, Shawn is survived by his brothers, Christopher Denham and Trenton Wharton; sisters, Lillian Giles and Lydia Denham; grandmother, Glenna Lewis; grandfather, David Ross; great grandmother, Louise Vincent; step-father, Steve Giles and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members that will miss him dearly.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 12, 2023, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY, from 2pm-8pm with a celebration of Shawn's life beginning at 6pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a memorial donation be made to offset funeral costs.
