Sharon Staples

Sharon M. Staples, 76, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2024.

She was born on February 13, 1947 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Benjamin and Juanita (Benton ) McDonough. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Mark McDonough.

Sharon was an amazing person who spent her life taking care of people. Whether that be her job as a BSN RN Case Manager for Norton Healthcare she also took care of all of her children. She was the happiest watching her son play football and then watching her grandsons play. Her granddaughter loved softball and so did she. Her father was a baseball coach for years and she had a love and knowledge of sports that was amazing. She was the trivia queen never missed an episode of jeopardy and answered more right than anyone I've ever seen. She loved music her favorites were Elton John, James Taylor and the Beatles. She was in love with Paul McCartney, crossword puzzles and she used to love the trips to Florida, Crystal River was her favorite place and will be her final resting place.

Sharon is survived by her loving children, Jerry Staples, Jr. (Diana), Robyn Becker (Josh), Daniel Staples (Emily); grandchildren, Cody Staples, Josh Staples (Katrina), Nicholas Staples, Seth Staples, Ella Staples, Brandon Becker; and brothers, Bud McDonough and John McDonough. She is also survived by her former husband, Jerry Staples, Sr. (Bonnie).

Visitation will be from 2:00 pm until the time of the memorial service at 4:00 pm on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (235 Juneau Drive Louisville, KY 40243).

Memorial contributions in Sharon's name can be made to The Little Sisters of the Poor (15 Audubon Plaza Drive, Louisville, KY 40217).
