Sharon Lee Ballew

Sharon Lee Ballew, 78, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2022. Sharon was a diehard IU fan. She enjoyed playing horseshoes and Euchre and spending time with family and friends. Sharon will be remembered for her delicious chocolate chip cookies and her ability to make the perfect pitcher of sweet tea. She was always ready to open her heart and home to anyone in need. Also, Sharon was a member of the VFW Hobart Beach Post 1693.

She was born on April 11, 1944, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Merle Johnson and Nita (Wadsworth) Reynolds. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Frederick Waters.

Sharon is survived by her life partner, Steven Fore; daughter-in-law, Selena Waters; daughter, Lesa (Warner) Mukes; son, Rex (Jessica) Messmer; stepdaughter, Sheila Branham; brother, Bill (Nancy) Reynolds; grandchildren, Shaunta (Jason) Hamby, Alex Waters, Joshua Biggs, Nick Biggs, Kobe Mukes, Ryann Popp, Dylan (Leah) Messmer, Charlie Messmer, Isla Tackett, Kaden Houser, and Addison Bristow; and great-grandchildren, Jameson, Paisley, and Maci.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
