Sarah J. Mcclellan

Sarah J. McClellan, 74, passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2014 after a brief battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her family and her dog "Rusty". Sarah was born in Louisville, KY on May 24, 1940 to the late William and Stella Schickinger. She is also preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.

Sarah leaves behind her husband of 58 years Harold "Jack" McClellan, Sr; she is also survived by her three children, Deborah (Mike) Kaelin of Greentown, IN, Harold "David" (Fran) McClellan, Jr. of Falls of Rough, KY, and Todd (Sarah) McClellan; seven grandchildren, Tina (Scott) Lynch, Michael (Jennifer) Kaelin, Timmy (Kassie), Jonathan, Jason, Savannah and Thomas McClellan; four great-grandchildren; her sister Julia Dever and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Sarah was a devoted member of Epworth United Methodist Church where she had attended since she was a small child and was a Sunday school teacher for over 30 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Leitchfield Women's Club. Her volunteer work included spending time at the Leitchfield nursing homes and Relay for Life.

A Funeral Service to honor the life of Sarah will be held at Epworth United Methodist Church on Thursday July 17, 2014 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held on Wednesday July 16, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home-Southwest Louisville Chapel (10304 Dixie Hwy Lou, KY 40272) from 2pm–8pm, and resume at Epworth United Methodist Church on Thursday from 10am until time of service, with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Epworth United Methodist Church Children's Ministry 919 Palatka Road, Louisville Ky, 40214 or Kosair Children's Cancer Care Center (Pediatric Oncology Unit).
