Sanford Joe Houk, 75, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, December 31, 2015. He was a faithful and devout member of Unity Missionary Baptist Church in Valley Station, KY. Joe retired from Willamette Industries after 30 years. He was an avid UK fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR races along with spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Callie Houk.
Joe is survived by his wife of 20 years, Sarah Houk; children, Kerry (Holly) Houk, Carla (Doug) Houk Edwards, Tammie (Bill) Ewell, Jason (April) Potts and Travis Potts; daughter-in-law, Samantha Potts; grandchildren, Cori (Gabe), Savannah, Mackenzie, Jessica, Joshua, Brittany (Jake), Tyler, Ryan, Alexis, Rachel, Nicole, Victoria, Rebecca and Caleb; great-grandchildren, Rayden, Riley and Amelia; sisters, Sharon Houk and Shirley Armstrong; a special friend that stood by his side, Sal Costanzo, the mother of Kerry and Carla, Dottie Houk, and his extended church family.
Visitation will be Friday, January 1, 2016, at Newcomer Funeral Home SW Chapel (10304 Dixie Highway) from 2pm-8pm(EST). A celebration of Joe's life will be Sunday, January 3, 2016, beginning at 2pm(EST), at the chapel of Newcomer Funeral Home with burial to follow at Little Flock Baptist Church Cemetery in Kessinger, KY at 3:30(CST).
