Sandra Dayton Rawlins, 63, passed away at her home in Prospect on Thursday, July 21, 2011. She was a homemaker; former secretary of the City of Prospect; past president of Christ Church United Methodist Women; a lifetime member of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA); a member of Prospect Area Literary Society (P.A.L.S.); and a member of a Moms-in-Touch prayer group.
Sandy was an extraordinary daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She cherished time with family and was especially fond of her role as "Grandmommy" to her five grandchildren. Sandy lived her life for others, laughed often, and awaited the peace and healing of Heaven.
Sandy is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, John C. Rawlins, Jr.; son, John C. Rawlins, III; daughters, Bridgett Strickler (Stuart) and Angela Wetherton (Lee); grandchildren: Caitlin Flowers Strickler, Bethany Rawlins Strickler, William Reece Wetherton, Nora Lane Wetherton, and Sandra Dayton Wetherton; father, Robert G. Dayton; sister, Darlene Figel (Walt) and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 25 at 11 a.m. at Saint John United Methodist Church, 12700 West Highway 42 in Prospect with burial to follow in Floydsburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12-5 p.m. Sunday, July 24 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Dr. and after 10 a.m. at the church on Monday.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jeffery Hargis and staff for their exceptional care over the past six years.
