Samuel "Sammy" Lee Johnson Jr. a loving and dedicated father and grandfather 66, of Louisville, Kentucky, has succumbed to his long battle with Brain and lung Cancer on Monday, May 3, 2021. Sammy lived his life free and bold, serving his Country is the Army, serving his fellow man in his community, and most importantly serving his family with more love and loyalty then what he would ever ask for in return. When he fell ill with cancer and on his darkest days he continued to love and assist others, especially his grandchildren whom he absolutely adored. Children where dear to his heart, he played a father/ grandfather role in the lives of children who lacked a strong male father figure in there lives. As saddened as our family is to lose such a bright patriarch, we are so humbled by what his strength and courage has thought us. TO BE ABSENT FROM THE BODY IS TO BE PRESENT WITH THE LORD.
He was an avid UofL fan and never missed a game. He always loved to sing and perform with his group Social Life who won The Black Expo. Sammy will truly be missed by anyone and everyone who had the honor and pleasure of meeting him.
He was born on April 6, 1955 in Louisville, Kentucky to Samuel and Lula (West) Johnson. He is preceded in death by his mother, Lula Lee Johnson and father, Samuel Lee Johnson, Sr.
