Ruth Walton

Ruth Walton , 96, of Berea, Kentucky, formerly of Louisville passed away on Monday, November 7, 2022. Ruth was a Christian and was Baptized by her Father at the age of 12. She graduated from Bardstown High School and later went to Simmons Bibles College and graduated 1976, and got her Bachelors degree at Southern University Theological Seminary. In her younger years she attended Von Speigel Baptist Church under the Pastor Rev. Cornelius Booker. Then she went on to Portland Missionary Baptist Church where she stayed until her health failed. Ruth helped teach Bible Studies, Sunday School, and Pastors Aid Auxillary for many years. She worked as a nurses assistant at the old Methodist Hospital. Ruth was an avid University of Kentucky and Spurs fan. She was a active during the Civil Rights Movement. Ruth was a devoted Mother, Grandmother, Friend to so many, and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was born on November 23, 1925 in Fairfield, Kentucky to Rev. Clarence and Mary (Wigginton) Crumes. She is preceded in death by her Parents, Sons, Jerry Sanders, and Fred Sanders, Siblings, Mary Ella Swafford, John "J.P." Crumes, Samuel Crumes, Johnson Hays, Joseph Crumes, William Hays, Christine Jones, George Crumes, Mary Crumes, Jon Hays, John Crumes, Namoi Smith, and Pearl Crumes.

Ruth is survived by her Children, Sammy M Sanders, John (Sharon) Sanders, Bobby (Rose) Sanders, David (Linda) Sanders, Diane (Charles) Watkins, Christopher (Lynette) Booker, and Katrina Lee. Ruth also leaves behind to cherish her memory 38 Grandchildren and a host of Great Grandchildren, Great Great Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Friends, and Extended Family.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, November 11, 2022 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). Visitation will resume on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Portland Memorial Baptist Church (3802 West Market Street) from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm. Her Funeral Service will be at 12:00 pm on Saturday, at Portland Memorial Missionary Baptist Church (3802 West Market Street, Louisville, KY 40212) with burial to follow at Green Meadows Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
