Ruth Mildred von Dreele

Ruth M. von Dreele of Louisville, Kentucky, joined our Lord Jesus Christ in heaven on October 24, 2024. She was 98 years old. Ruth was born on June 6, 1926 in Jersey City, NJ. She was without pain and was in comfort at Story Point Prospect Assisted Living facility where she was receiving care.

At age 4, the family relocated to Erie, PA where she attended public school. After graduating from high school, Ruth attended Stevens College in Columbia, Missouri. It was a two year college where she studied art with emphasis on fashion and the skill of design and building apparel. After college, she moved back to New Jersey and worked in New York City in some of the finest clothing stores on 5th Ave. 

She met her future husband, Arthur, when they were toddlers. These early connections lead to their marriage on July 5, 1947, in Erie, PA. They were married for over 76 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, and two sons Richard and David. 

Ruth is survived by her son, James, grandchildren Alison, Stephen, Julia and Kiley and 7 grandchildren. 

Her greatest qualities were her passion for life, her Lutheran faith, family and the compassion for the less fortunate. She was always supportive of anyone with disabilities. 

Loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, her life was a fabulous journey. She was one of kind and will be remembered forever.
