Ruth R. Carden, 89, of Santa Claus, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2020, due to complications of COVID-19. Above anything, Ruth was a faithful servant of God. She had read many Bibles from cover to cover. Ruth enjoyed journaling and reading daily devotions. She had a heart for others, which showed in her time as a foster parent. In the past, she was an active member of the Woman of the Moose Lodge, the Red Hats Society, and the L.I.F.T. program. She was a faithful member of the Santa Claus United Methodist Church. Per her request, her grandson, Jonathan, was holding her hand by her side during her journey home.
She was born on September 22, 1931, in Grayson County, Kentucky, to the late Clevie and Idella (Dennis) Clemons. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William Hooe; son, Roy D Hooe; son-in-law, John Darling; granddaughter, Lyric; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Clemons; and brother-in-law, Wavie Whobrey.
