Ruth Book

Ruth B. (Koetter) Book, 88, of Starlight, Indiana passed away on April 8, 2014. A lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Starlight, Ruth was a long-time farmer in the community and co-owner of Book's Dairy Farm. Devoted wife and mother, Ruth leaves a legacy of a faith-filled and strong work ethic.

Ruth was born on August 24, 1925 in Starlight, Indiana to the late Julius and Elizabeth (Richart) Koetter. She is also preceded in death by her sisters, Janet Koetter, Catherine Lucille "Cil" Koerber, and Mary Margaret "Mog" Kruer; brothers, Richard "Dick" Koetter, John Koetter; grandson, Robert Wolfe; and great-grandson, Kaden Book.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, William J. Book, Sr.; sons, James W. Book (Sherri), William J. Book, Jr. (Barbara), and Joseph P. Book (Becky); daughters, Joann Timmons (Pat), Janet Schmelz (Jim), Judy Book, Jean Wolfe (Randy), Karen Morin, Elaine Kruer (Bob), Theresa Koopman (Glenn), and Donna Bane (Terry); sisters, Dorothy "Dottie" Kruer (Jim), Elizabeth "Betty" Sprigler ("Pete"), Patricia "Pat" Williams (Ken), and Carol Caladrino (Frank); brother James "Jim" Koetter (Carol); 35 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 12 to 8 PM Friday, April 11, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM on Saturday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
