Roy Leonard Reccius, Sr.
June 26, 1930 — April 8, 2014
Roy L. Reccius, Sr., 83, of Louisville, KY passed away on April 8, 2014. He was a United States Navy veteran that served his country from 1950 to 1954. Roy graduated from U of L and had a life-long career in accounting. Roy was a long time participant in a magic club, a former member of St. Columba, and a current member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Portland.
Roy was born on June 26, 1930 in Louisville to the late Lloyd and Liddie (Haire) Reccius. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Reccius.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 61 years, Dorothy Marie (Brunner) Reccius; children, Rosanna Helsel (Scott), Jean Reccius, Judy Duncan (Tim), Rita Dama (Dave), Patrick Reccius (Lisa), Roy Reccius, Jr.; brother, Jack Reccius; 12 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; and his four legged companion, Daisy.
Visitation will be from 1 to 7 PM Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM on Monday at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (3511 Rudd Avenue, Louisville, KY 40212) with burial and military honors to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Louisville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mass of the Air (508 Breckenridge Lane, Louisville, 40207), the American Cancer Society (701 W. Muhammad Ali Blvd, Louisville, 40203) or to his church.
