Roy John Becker, 77, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, in New Albany, Indiana. Roy was a proud graduate of Purdue University and an avid golfer. He was a loving husband, a wonderful father, and a doting grandfather.
Roy was born on April 24, 1939, in Waukegan, Illinois, to the late Henry and Edna (Jeschke) Becker. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Henry Becker, Jr., and E. Peter Becker; sister, Bonnie Jo Scott; and sister-in-law, Glenda Becker.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 56 years, Violet (Byers) Becker; children, Rita Forler (Neil), Roy Becker, Jr. (June), and Rhonda Benz (Karl); brother, Walter Becker (Renee); sister-in-law, Marge Becker; and grandchildren, Mallory, Jordan, and Kelly Schaus, Jonathan and Jeremy Becker, Jessica and Christine Benz, and Corey Forler.
A Memorial Gathering will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Monday, May 9, 2016, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana). His Memorial Service will be at 4:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Cremation was chosen following Roy's wishes.
Memorial Contributions in Roy's name may be made to Hosparus – Community Hospice of Southern Indiana (502 Hausfeldt Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150).
