Roy "Duke" Harter, 80, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2013. He was a Korean War Marine Corp. veteran and a member of St. John's Presbyterian Church in New Albany. Duke was a real estate developer for over 50 years. He enjoyed going fishing, playing golf, and traveling. Duke was also an avid race car and classic car fan.
Duke was born on April 11, 1933 in New Albany to the late Harry F. and Dorothy (Stricker) Harter. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Georgann (Rasmussen) Harter. He is survived by his children, John Harter (Micah), Pamela Routh, Johanna Hammond, Elizabeth Borraga (Michael); brother, David Harter (Sandra); 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 12 PM to 8 PM Friday, April 19, 2013, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will take place at 11 AM on Saturday at St. John's Presbyterian Church (1307 E. Elm Street, New Albany) with burial and military honors to follow at Fairview Cemetery.
