Perkins, Roy Dale, 86, of Louisville, went home to be with his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Baptist Hospital East, following a brief illness. He "fought the good fight, he finished the course, he kept the faith."
He was formerly a resident of Madison, In, where, for many years he owned and operated the Dupont Feed Mill. Roy was born on Feb. 4, 1927 in Springfield, Ky and was a graduate of New Washington, In. High School. He was a veteran of WWII. He was an active member for over 55 years of the Dupont (Ind) Baptist Church where he served in a variety of roles. He was currently a member of the Pewee Valley Baptist Church. Roy was married to (Iva) Jean (Ison) Perkins on 8/7/1954.
He was proceeded in death by his his parents, Raymond and Ora (Ward) Perkins, his sister, Orene (Perkins) Waller, his brother, Harold, and his infant brother, David.
He is survived by his faithful, loving wife, Jean and his two children, Teri Sparks (Darryl), and Mark Perkins (Deborah); his grandchildren, Tasha Sparks, Emily Sparks, Micah Perkins (Caitlyn), Rebekah Deline (Aaron), Timothy Perkins, Stephan Perkins (Stephanie), Philip Perkins, Jon Perkins, Naomi Perkins, Grace Perkins, & Christie Perkins.
He is also survived by 10 great-grand children and many nieces, and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Roy was an avid bicyclist, an astute investor, and was devoted to an early morning work-out regiment. But above all, Roy was a devoted follower of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Visitation will be on Thursday, April 4, 2013 from 3-5 PM and from 6-8 PM at the Newcomer Funeral Home 235 Juneau Dr. Louisville, Ky 40243. The funeral service will be held at the same location at 11 AM on April 5, 2013.
There will be a 2:00 pm burial service afterward at the Dupont, In. Cemetery, with a time for visitation and fellowship to follow at the Dupont Baptist Church, Dupont, In.
In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made to Pewee Valley Baptist Church, 331 Ash Ave., Pewee Valley, KY 40056.
