Roy A. Bane, a dedicated veteran and cherished family man, departed this life on February 16, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky, surrounded by his devoted family. Born on March 8, 1942, in Columbus City, Texas, Roy grew up embodying the values of hard work and loyalty that followed him throughout his life.
A proud graduate of Laneville Texas High School, Roy went on to serve honorably in the United States Army until his retirement. His commitment to service was a testament to his character and dedication to his country.
In his personal life, Roy was known to be a hard worker, devoted husband, loving father, loyal brother, and caring grandfather. His family was at the heart of all he did, and his proudest accomplishments included watching his family grow over the years. He found great joy in spending time with his loved ones, often sharing simple pleasures such as watching YouTube farming videos, working on his car, and enjoying outings that involved tacos and a good milkshake.
Roy leaves behind a loving family who will forever carry his memory in their hearts. He is survived by his sons, Willie "Bill" (Lori) Bane and James (Lila) Bane; son-in-law, Jeffrey Lamphear Sr.;his granddaughters, Stephanie Bane, Nicole (David) Ballard, Cara Lamphear and Crystal Schulten (Nick); his grandsons, Jeffrey Lamphear, Jr., Eric Niebruegge, and Ryan Niebruegge; as well as 15 great-grandchildren. He is also remembered fondly by many loving family members in California and Texas.
Roy was preceded in death by his Loving wife Else Bane; mother, Geneva Lawn Bane; his daughter, Claudia Lamphear; granddaughters, Alisha Lamphear, and Charlotte Lamphear; and his son, Robert Bane. Their absence will be deeply felt, yet they, along with the memories he created, will remain an enduring part of his legacy.
Visitation will be held on February 25, 2025, from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM, followed by a funeral service beginning at 4:30 PM, all at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville, located at 235 Juneau Dr, Louisville, KY 40243.
Roy A. Bane touched the lives of many, and his spirit will continue to shine through the love and connections he fostered in his family.
