Ronald Paul Stogner, age 67, passed away on Saturday, September 26th, 2015, at his home in Louisville, KY.
Born in Centralia, IL, on July 14th, 1948, to Paul Stogner and Bonnie Mae Gordon; and survived by his 2 sons, Steven Michael Stogner of Lexington, KY, and John Paul Stogner of Crestwood, KY; daughter-in-law Lisa Lee Stogner; 3 grandchildren Samantha Leigh Stogner, Hannah Elizabeth Stogner, and Ryan Steven Stogner; former spouse Diana Stogner; and loving companion Jan Pieper.
Ron was Catholic by faith and graduated from St. Xavier High School. He went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Kentucky where he made many lifelong friends as a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He always looked forward to the next get-together with his beloved fraternity brothers. Often times, these get-togethers involved University of Kentucky sporting events, as Ron was an avid fan of college football and basketball.
Ron started his career with US Gypsum and eventually became a successful businessman at Independent Seed and Central Farm, where he served as president for over 10 years.
Ron was extremely generous and compassionate, regularly expressed with letters, phone calls, care packages, pie deliveries, and airport shuttle services. He took pride in and loved his two sons and three grandchildren deeply. Friends remarked how spending time with them made his day. In his later years, he enjoyed following politics and baking those famous pies.
The family would like to thank Dr. John Markert and his staff. Ron mentioned on several occasions how much he appreciated the relationships he established with them. They would also like to thank all of his close friends from the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity for their friendship, support, and love for Ron.
Visitation will be from 2:00pm to 5:00pm Wednesday, September 30, 2015, at Newcomer Funeral Home (235 Juneau Drive, Louisville), followed by a Memorial Service at 5:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to The Salvation Army or The American Heart Association.
