Ronald David Helbig, Sr., 66, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana passed away suddenly on Saturday, February 22, 2014.
Ronald was born on October 17, 1947 to the late John & Sadie (Tackett) Helbig. He was a proud veteran of The United States Army who served in the Vietnam War. Ronald was united in marriage to Betty Lou Ross on April 23, 1979. They loved spending time with their family, especially their dog, Pickles, & ferret, Sara Rose. Ronald was an avid IU Basketball fan.
He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Helbig; children, Ben Helbig (Missy), Julie Ross, & Ronald Helbig, Jr. (Ashley); brother, Robert Helbig (Joanie); 7 grandchildren, Tim, Hope (Aaron), Austin, Dakota, Kaitlyn, Gracelyn, Scarlet; great-grandson, Garrett. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Bill & Melvin; sisters, Doris & Linda.
A Memorial Visitation will be from 5 to 6 PM on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN). His Memorial Service will be celebrated at 6 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
