Ronald Paul Deatrick, Sr., 84, of Clarksville, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2023. He served in the United States Army, where he was active duty in Europe, and was a 50 year member of Masonic Lodge #340. Ron was also a lifelong civil servant, working for several branches of government in the Town of Clarksville and ultimately retired after serving as Chief of Police.
He was born on March 11, 1939 in New Albany, Indiana to Wylie Deatrick and Lily (Linne) Clinton. Along with his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his wife, Shelby (Bartle) Deatrick; daughter, Karen Deatrick; and brother, Lonnie Ray Clinton.
Ron is survived by his sons, Michael Fitzgerald, Thomas Fitzgerald (Suzanne), Mark Deatrick, Ronald Deatrick, Jr. (Michelle), Jeffrey Deatrick (Shalome); 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren with one on the way; and sister, Toya Theiss.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with his funeral service taking place at 1:00 p.m. Burial with military honors will follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville.
