Roma E. (Uhl) Wolfe, 83, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, June 13, 2010 at Providence Retirement Home. In New Albany, Roma had worked in insurance for a short time and for the RC Can Company for ten years. Active in the community, she served on the board for the Southern Indiana Association for the Handicapped, New Albany/Floyd County Library Board of Trustees (10 years), and as Committee member of the Education Council of New Albany Floyd County. She was a member of the Bonnie Sloan American Legion Auxiliary and Holy Family Catholic Church in New Albany.
She was born, June 9, 1927 to the late Justin and Catherine (Gettelfinger) Uhl in Palmyra, Indiana. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Juanita Zoeller and brother, Carl Uhl. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Leo W. Wolfe of New Albany; children, David L. Wolfe and Janet Shuman of Midland, Michigan, Daniel J. Wolfe and his wife, Diana of Jeffersonville, and Stephen A. Wolfe and his wife, Jeanette of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Brian Wolfe and his wife, Sheri; Erin Wolfe, Dillon Wolfe, Kimberly Schiller and her husband, Joshua and Brittany Wolfe; sisters, Frances Sasse and her husband, Herman of Louisville and Joan Schickel and her husband, Pete of Lanesville; brothers, Stephen Uhl and his wife, Diane of Oro Valley, Arizona, Raymond Uhl and his wife, Terry of Monroe, Georgia, Jude Uhl and his wife, Mary Jean of Jeffersonville, and John Uhl and his wife, Ruby of New Washington.
Visitation will be 4 PM to 7 PM on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Generations Funeral Home. A Rosary service will take place at 4 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at Holy Family Catholic Church in New Albany with entombment to follow at SCI Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
