Roland W. Wallace, 78, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 with his family at his side. A veteran of the U. S. Air Force Reserves, Roland was a long-time member of St. Mary Navilleton Catholic Church in Floyds Knobs. He retired from Bank One in Louisville; was a member of the Clark County, Indiana, and Ft. Myers, Florida, ham radio clubs (call sign: WA4UDK); and loved boating and camping at Nolin Lake. Noted for raising belted Galloway cattle, he always enjoyed a good round of horseshoes with family and friends. He brought smiles and laughter to all with his humorous nature. Roland leaves a legacy of faith, integrity, devotion, and love of life. He will be greatly missed.
Roland was born on September 21, 1936 in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Frank and Velma (Box) Wallace. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Frank Wallace.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, LaVerne (End) Wallace; sons, Jerry (Tracie), Brian (Missy), and Michael (Tanya) Wallace; daughters, Janet Kruer (Ron) and Jill Wallace; brother, Richard Wallace; sisters, Joyce Pruhs and Kay Wise (Sam); ten grandchildren, Adam (Amanda), Brett (Kristina), Erin, Kasey, Ramey, Evan, and Lauren Wallace, Paige and Bailee Kruer, and Tyler Hoke; and one great grandchild, Maci Wallace.
Visitation will be from 12 to 6 PM on Sunday, November 30, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM on Monday, December 1 at St. Mary Navilleton Catholic Church (7500 Navilleton Road, Floyds Knobs) with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
