Roland Edward "Dumpy" Arter, 62, of Palmyra and Louisville, passed away January 9, 2014 surrounded by his children.
Dumpy was born December 15, 1951 in Louisville, to Daniel and Wanda Vukmir. Dumpy was an original member of the Kentucky Drag Racing (KDR) and was a competitive drag racer. He enjoyed drag racing, playing pool, and the "Thrill of the Hustle". He was a member of Union Local 118 and was a painter by trade. Dumpy enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Dumpy was preceded in death by one brother Daniel Jr.
Dumpy is survived by his fiancée Nancy Tanner; his children: Jason (Tammy) Arter and Lauren Arter; five grandchildren: Lucas, Audrey, Charlotte, Jace, and Jax; two brothers: Tony Vukmir and Russ (Jan) Vukmir; one sister Renna Vukmir; and a host of other family members.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 13, 2014 from 1:00PM – 7:00PM at Newcomer Funeral Home – Southwest Chapel (10304 Dixie Hwy). A service will follow at 7:00PM, also at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
