Roberta Jean "Ms. Birdie" (Perry) Stubbins, 69, of New Albany departed this life on April 8, 2014. She attended the Madison Public Schools and was a member of the Ebenezer Methodist Church. On June 5, 1965, she was married to Delmar Stubbins, Sr., and moved to New Albany. To this union, four children were born. She became a member of Bethel AME Church where she was an usher and attended Bible study. Roberta was an employee of Headstart, Hoosier Panel, and Wellcare and was a devoted housewife.
Roberta was born December 21, 1944 in Madison, Indiana to the late Hobart and Mary Ellen (Sadler) Perry. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Pearl, Wanda, and Linda, and brothers, John, George, and Nathan, all of Madison.
She leaves to cherish her memory a loving husband of 48 years, Delmar Stubbins, Sr.; two daughters, Donna Perry of Madison, Indiana, and Cookie Stubbins of New Albany; two sons, Steve and Delmar Stubbins, Jr., both of New Albany; eight grandchildren; and six great grandchildren; two brothers, Melvin Perry (Betty), Joseph Perry (Becky), all of Madison; three brothers-in-law; six sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be from 10 AM to 1 PM Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Bethel AME Church (315 East Fifth Street, New Albany, IN 47150). Her Funeral Service is at 1 PM with burial to follow at West Haven Cemetery in New Albany.
